Dr. Taylor Nielsen, DMD

Dr. Taylor Nielsen, DMD, combines experience in general dentistry with a strong background in clinical direction and urgent care. He launched Emergency Dentist in late 2022 to improve access to treatment beyond regular weekday hours. He currently serves as Clinical Director for a network of seventeen weekend dental clinics spanning five states.
Dr. Nielsen graduated from the OHSU School of Dentistry in Portland, Oregon, with his Doctor of Dental Medicine degree in 2018. He first practiced in Oregon before moving to Iowa and taking ownership of Dentistry 801 Grand in downtown Des Moines. Dr. Taylor Nielsen, dentist and practice owner, established the first weekend clinic within his Des Moines office. He then helped bring the model to additional locations in Iowa, Georgia, California, Arizona, and Arkansas.
Through his clinical leadership, Dr. Nielsen helps set standards for evaluating dental pain, managing infections, performing extractions, and coordinating same-day care. He has educated and supported more than 100 dentists. He also created an eight-credit continuing education program in urgent dental practice that is hosted by OHSU.
Dr. Nielsen holds an active dental license in Iowa and maintains memberships with the American Dental Association and the Iowa Dental Association. While Taylor Nielsen DDS may be found as an online name variation, his earned credential is DMD. He also reviews the patient information on this website to promote clinical accuracy, clarity, and responsible dental guidance.

Dr. Nielsen is licensed to practice dentistry in Iowa. He does not practice dentistry or treat patients in New York, and he is not a provider at Tribeca North Dentistry.
